Risky Business at 25: Old Time Rock and Roll


Risky Business is being (re)released this week, 25 years after the Bob Seger-fueled Old Time Rock and Roll dancing scene with Tom Cruise became one of the most iconic pieces of movie music. That’s a long time ago, before Tom Cruise was “Tom Cruise” – for all the good and bad that carries with it.

That singular scene gets so much attention that many people forget just how good the rest of the soundtrack is. The movie includes songs from The Police, Talking Heads, Bruce Springsteen, Journey, Prince, Phil Collins, Muddy Waters and Jeff Beck. Throw in a score by Tangerine Dream (who also did the early Tom Cruise fantasy epic Legend) and you get an incredible soundtrack.
